Some of the things you think are healthy could be ruining your weight loss efforts.

Read on and find out if your weight loss approach needs some adjusting.

You never change your workout

Doing the same exercise routine and never changing anything is really bad because your body gets used to it. You have to always keep your workouts challenging. Make sure you adjust your workouts as you progress. It’s also good to do new exercises to surprise the body.

Eating too much of healthy foods

Just because it’s healthy, doesn’t mean it’s calorie free! In fact, some healthy foods are really high in calories. Take nuts for example, they’re super good for you and you should absolutely have them, but you have to pay attention to portion sizes. You could easily eat 1000 calories of nuts just by snacking on them from the bag. So, no matter how healthy food you’re eating is, you have to keep your portion sizes appropriate.

Eating processed ‘healthy’ foods

So many of processed foods are labeled healthy just because they’re vegan, or gluten free, or sugar free and such. That’s not enough to tell if food is healthy. It may be sugar free but contain so many of other harmful ingredients that wreck your hormones and cause weight gain. To make sure that doesn’t happen, always read the list of ingredients and nutritional value on the back of the packaging. Also, try to eat as much of the real whole foods as you can.

Not eating fats

Many people still think that fats = weight gain. But that’s not true. There are healthy and unhealthy fats. And just like any other healthy food, your body needs healthy fats as well. Eating healthy fats actually helps with keeping your body at correct weight. Foods rich in healthy fats are avocados, fatty fish, eggs, nuts..You should eat these foods even when you’re trying to lose weight, you just need to control the portion size.

You rely too much on exercise

If you are eating too many calories, you can’t ‘sweat’ them out no matter how much you worked out. So, when it comes to weight loss, you can’t just rely completely on exercise. You need to watch your calorie intake as well. Combine exercise with a calorie deficit and that’s how you lose weight in a healthy way.

You don’t sleep enough

Poor sleeping habits affect your whole body negatively, including your metabolism. And, also, when you don’t get enough sleep you are tired and when you’re tired you crave sugar because it provides fast energy. As you can see, getting good sleep every night is very important for weight loss. To get better sleep, avoid electronics an hour before bed time, avoid eating few hours before bedtime and, instead, do things you enjoy and find relaxing. Yoga before going to bed is a great idea too! And here are best yoga poses for sleeping well.

You don’t drink enough water

Do you know that most of the time when we think that we are hungry, we are actually just thirsty? And even worse, most people are dehydrated and are not even aware of it. And staying hydrated is the most important thing for your overall health. And there’s no weight loss when your body is dehydrated as body needs water to get things out, cleanse, digest, metabolize. Like a machine needs oil, your body needs water. So, make sure you are getting enough water every single day.
